Sheffield Photograghs

This collection of Sheffield photographs were taken by me between June and November 2009. Many of the photos of the City Centre were taken either on or around the big wheel that is currently situated at the top of Fargate. The collection also includes photos of the new St. Pauls Tower which is under construction along with photos of the Botanical Gardens.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens - The Gardens were first opened in 1836 and today has fifteen different garden areas featuring collections of plants from all over the world, including Mediterranean, Asian, American prairie-style, woodland and rock-and-water plantings.

The Gardens contain several listed buildings including the restored Grade II listed curvilinear Glass Pavilions (1,2,4), some of the earliest ever built, which were officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on 1 September 2003.

St. Paul's Tower - Currently under construction at the time of writing (Dec 2009) is the St Paul’s Tower (24). To make way for this development, the Records and Registry Office (known locally as “The Wedding Cake”) has been demolished along with the Yorkshire Grey public house. The tower is a 32-storey apartment block and when completed shall be the tallest building in the city. The newly built car park next to the tower is known locally as “The Cheese Grater”(22).
